Cluni + Olly - A beautiful Sussex wedding

I really do need to get back into blogging, I have so many beautiful weddings to share so I thought I would make a start today.

Let’s rewind to 25th August 2018.

Cluni + Olly got married at Salehurst Church and then had their reception in the grounds of Claremont School in East Sussex (which is where Cluni works!). Cluni got ready at her parents house in Fairlight, with all her bridesmaids and an awesome team of suppliers for hair, make up and flowers. It was such a laugh, as I knew it would be. Having known her pretty much her whole life, it was like being amongst a group of friends.

Just some of the things that make me happy at a wedding -

  • People that don’t care what face they are pulling at the camera, or even just being unaware of the camera entirely

  • White tipi’s

  • Outdoor speeches

  • Awesome speeches

  • Mass confetti

  • Homemade cake

  • Killer dance moves

And yep. This wedding had all of the above and more. Oh, and my Mum was there. 10 points if you can spot her.

I don’t even think I need to go into a huge amount of detail. You can see for yourselves how utterly lush this day was, it was a delight to be a part of it.

Katie + Stuart's Wedding - Hastings, East Sussex

I was super excited to photograph Katie + Stuarts wedding day for many reasons, but one of them being because I started my year of weddings in 2018 with not many close to home. Katie + Stuart got married 20 minutes from where we lived at the time, in Hastings East Sussex, and quite frankly, it was a ruddy luxury!

Katie’s sister, Natasha, is a local make up artist (who I would highly recommend if you are on the hunt for an MUA!) and I always love working with her. So it was a super friendly atmosphere right from the beginning of bride prep as I felt like I was surrounded by friends. We had laughs upon laughs right through the day, and it was an absolute pleasure to be a part of and photograph. Lots of Katie and Stuarts family and friends helped out for their wedding day, and Katie’s Dad even made their wedding cake!

We started the day at bride prep at Katie’s parents house then headed to St Clements Church, Hastings. It is just so lovely and the light is every photographers dream for a church wedding. It has had quite a lot of work done to it over the years so it has a very modern feel, whilst keeping a lot of its original features. The big windows meant there was no super harsh orange light like you often get in old churches! We then walked down through the old town of Hastings, stopping for pictures in the fisherman’s huts and finishing up the day at Hastings Angling Club.

We did a few group photos at the huts, and then a few couple shots too. Katie and Stuart were happy to go back out on the beach that afternoon as well for some more portraits and as you can see from the photos, we were treated to a super thick haze over the cliffs of the East Hill, spreading right across the coast and sea. I looove using Hastings RNLI building for portraits so I couldn’t resist those big red doors! I have done a few family sessions here too and I always love the end result.

The food was served and the speeches were over, after roars of laughter throughout! The dance floor was really busy and it was super fun to be a part of! A huge thank you to Katie + Stuart for having me along, it was such a super day and I thoroughly enjoyed photographing you all!

2018 - Family favourites

So here it is, we find ourselves nearing the end of the year which means its roundup time! I have just spent the morning flicking through some of my family sessions of 2018 and I am so excited to share with you this gallery of 75 of my favourite images. This isn’t every session I have shot this year, as you can imagine a lot of my clients don’t want images shared on social media and online (which is totally fair enough!!) but here is a selection of some of my favourite photos from the sessions I can share with you all!

2018 has been a really defining moment for me as a family photographer and I think you can see from this little stash of photos that I have really taken on board the documentary family photographer approach this year. Quite frankly, I have loved every second. Its been so nice to not say ‘okay everyone look this way and smile’ on every session, and instead just letting people be themselves. Goof around, run riot or just chill out in the living room. All of these sessions, and the rest, have added such an awesome touch on this year for me.

If you’re thinking of booking in a family session then don’t hesitate to get in touch! I am taking a few months off over the start of 2019 as we are expecting our own new addition to our family, but from the end of Spring I shall be back to work and taking on a few sessions a month again.

I can’t wait to see what 2019 brings, for you and for me!

Swallows Oast, East Sussex - Mr + Mrs Lamb's wedding!

Ahhh, Sammy + Ricky! From start to finish your day was full of tiny details, so much love and lots of laughter! I had an absolute pleasure photographing you all! A huge thanks to Will Fuller Photography for coming along to second shoot for me - you were an utter babe as always.

The whole day was at Swallow's Oast in Ticehurst, set in the beautiful Sussex countryside sits this little quaint venue, perfect for celebrating in utter countryside style!

I asked Sammy + Ricky a few things about their day so I will leave it up to them...

We met whilst both working at our local B&Q and have been together for 9 years, Rick proposed on a mini break in Center Parcs in Jan 2017 with a personalised Emma bridgewater mug (I'm a collector) saying 'will you marry me?'.

We chose Swallows Oast because it was small and idyllic and wasn't too far from our home. After I found my dress I thought I would be different and put all my bridesmaids in ivory and I loved how they looked against the colour of my dress. Rick's outfit I randomly put together but I loved the braces I got him!

Charlotte made us feel very relaxed and Will was great too! They made a great team!
Everyone commented on how great they were, so friendly and never in your face with the camera. I loved looking through the photos and saying "I didn't know they took that!"

What was your favourite part of the day?: Sharing my day with my closest friends and family.
I loved dancing in the evening with all my bridesmaids.

If you could impart any words of wisdom to a couple planning their marriage and wedding day, what would they be and is there anything you would do differently?: It's your day do what the hell you want and don't stress about the little things.

Thanks again, folks!
